The Background Remover is an AI-based tool that automatically removes the background from images and logos uploaded by customers in the Visual Product Customizer.
It works both with solid color backgrounds and complex ones, providing a clean and professional result.
How to enable
You can enable the AI Background Remover from your Printing Methods. Within the printing method settings, you can decide how and when the background should be removed.
There are two main options available:
Option 1: Remove on upload
Automatically removes the background when the customer uploads an image.
You can choose between the following modes:

Automatic mode
Automatically removes the background and adds the updated image directly to the product, without showing any preview to the customer. -
Modal preview
Shows a preview modal with the background-removed image, allowing the customer to review and decide whether to use the updated image or keep the original one.
Choose this mode if you want your customers to clearly see that the background will be removed from their upload — and, more importantly, to give them the option to keep the original image unchanged.
Option 2: Remove as Option (in the Image Tools)
Enables the background remover as an optional tool within the image editing section. When active, customers can manually remove (and restore) the background from their uploaded image at any time using the image editing tools.
This combination is especially powerful for companies that want customers to work on clean, vector-based images and use printing methods with limited color options — such as monochrome or screen printing.
For a smoother experience, we recommend setting the Background Remover and Vectorizer tools to Automatic Mode. This way, both actions happen automatically when the image is uploaded, ensuring a seamless workflow without breaking the design flow between multiple modals.
