Fill Background

Overview

This tool allows your customers to fill the print area(s) of your product with colors or images.

If you don't see this UI, it means you're using our previous version. You can switch from your Zakeke back-office > User Interface settings, but if you don't see the option to switch, contact us at help@zakeke.com.

Managing the tool

Go to your Zakeke back-office > Tools > Fill Background

When you create the rule you can set the fill options for your customers:

  • Color (by enabling a color picker or setting a limited range of colors)

    Please note

Color options configured here automatically adapt to any Printing Method assigned to the product where this rule is applied. If the assigned Printing Method defines a specific color palette (e.g. Pantone, CMYK, or a limited color set), that palette will be used in the customizer UI — even if a Color Picker or a different color configuration is set here. In case of conflict, Printing Method settings take priority.

  • Upload image
This option allows your customers to upload an image that autofits the print area of your product.

  • Background gallery
This option allows you to provide your customers with a gallery of images that they can use to fill the print area of your product.

Zakeke provides a ready-to-use Background Image Gallery that allows you to offer your customers a selection of images they can use to fill the print area of your products. The images included in the gallery become part of your account, allowing you to fully manage, edit, or remove them according to your needs.

Please note: Accounts created before July 14, 2026

If your Zakeke account was created before July 14, 2026, the Background Image Gallery is not added automatically to avoid affecting your existing setup. If you already have a Fill Background rule with a gallery enabled, go to Customization Experience > Fill Background > Background Gallery tab, click Open Background Gallery, and select Import Free Image Pack. If you do not have a gallery configured yet, create a new Fill Background rule and import the free image pack when setting up the gallery.
