Image Pixelation

The Image Pixelation feature allows you to apply a pixelated effect to all images within the design, whether they come from your gallery or are uploaded by the end customer.

Example below: the original image (left) is pixelated once uploaded to the customizer.

This feature is only available in the new Visual Product Customizer UI.
If you started using Zakeke after March 2025, you're all set. Otherwise, you’ll need to activate the new UI by going to:
Settings > User Interface Settings > Continue with New UI

How to set it up

You can enable Image Pixelation under  Printing Method > Effects.

Once activated, you can adjust the pixelation level. An example image is provided to test and preview the effect, and you can also replace the product image below if needed.

Pixelation applies only to images

If you want the entire design (images + text) to look pixelated, you need to use pixel-styled fonts.

  1. Upload pixel fonts
    Go to Tools > Fonts in Zakeke and upload fonts that already have a pixelated style.
    Example: Pixelify Sans

  2. Restrict the printing method to those fonts
    In the same printing method where Pixelation is enabled for images, go to the Fonts section and select only the pixel-styled fonts you uploaded. (See screenshot below.)

     

With this setup:

  • The customer will only see those pixel-styled fonts available in the customizer, so all text will always look pixelated.

  • At the same time, the Pixelation effect will apply to the images.

The final result is a fully pixelated design (see example below).

 

Output files

When Pixelation is used, Zakeke generates two versions of each output file:

  • The original version without the effect.

  • The pixelated version, clearly labeled with “effect” (e.g. PDF effect, PNG effect).

In addition, the full ZIP package always contains the original images uploaded by the user, so you can access both the unmodified assets and the processed ones.
