During the print-ready files processing, it may happen that the PNG format is not generated and marked as "missing".
This is not an error, it happens because the file to generate is too large.
The final output size depends on:
Print Area size
DPI set in the Printing Method
Any effects enabled in the Printing Method
The size of any image to which effects are applied
When the combination of these factors generates an image larger than 8000 × 8000 pixels, the PNG file will not be produced under those conditions.
It can still be created by applying the adjustments described below, but if you don’t need the PNG for printing, you’re good to go and don’t need to do anything else.
How to recover the PNG output
The goal is to scale down the resolution of the original design without producing a low-quality output.
You should do as follows:
From the ZIP folder, open the SourceFileImages folder, which contains the original files used by the customer.
Identify any images that are particularly large.
Optimize the image by reducing its resolution below the maximum limit of 5000 × 5000 pixels.
Open the order in edit mode, select the large image, and use the Replace button to insert the optimized version, then save to generate again the print-ready files.
Please note
Slightly scaling down the resolution of the original design does not mean producing a low-quality output.
Best practices to avoid a missing PNG in the future
Verify for the product its Print Area size and the DPI set in the Printing Method
The image pixel size is calculated using the following formula:
To avoid the missing PNG, you should have:
a Print Area smaller than 65 × 65 cm;
if the Print Area cannot be reduced, lower the DPI value.
Please note
If no specific Printing Method is assigned to the product, the default Printing Method (300 DPI) will apply. If a lower DPI value is needed, you can create a new Printing Method and assign it to the product with the desired DPI.
You can test the quality of the final outputs with the new settings by placing test orders
