Overview

Zakeke is available in over 80 languages

The UI automatically uses the language of your store.

Back-office Language

The language of the Zakeke back-office is independent from the language of the UI shown to your customers. Changing the back-office language does not affect storefront or UI translations.


 

Managing languages and translations

The Translations section allows you to manage both system UI translations and your custom content translations.

You access it from Settings > User Interface Settings > Translations

It can be used in different scenarios:

  • When you operate a multi-language store, to ensure that both system and custom content are correctly displayed per language.
  • Even with a single-language store, when you want to adjust or improve how content is displayed in that language (for example improving automatic translations or adapting UI texts to better fit your brand tone).

In a single-language setup, you typically create your content already in the correct language. However, this section is still useful if you want to:

  • Refine or override system translations (e.g. improve automatic French translations)
  • Adjust UI wording to better match your brand tone
  • Adapt labels, messages, or visual text elements without changing your store language

This means Translations is not only for multilingual stores, but also a tool to fine-tune how your UI appears in any single language setup.
 

System and custom texts

  • Pre-set texts (System UI): interface elements provided by Zakeke such as buttons, labels, and system messages. These are automatically translated but can be manually edited.
  • Custom added texts (Your content): content created by you (product variants, image categories, tool names, clipart labels). These must be translated manually.

In the Languages section, you select the language or languages you want to work with. All supported languages are available in the list.

Warning

Deleting a language is irreversible and all translations for that language will be reset to default values.


 

HTML-based texts

Some areas such as Messages and Alerts, PDF Preview, Quote Summary, Order Summary, and Email Notifications, use HTML content instead of simple text.

These texts are not translated automatically. Instead, you translate them by switching the back-office language and editing the content directly in that language.

How it works

To translate HTML-based content:

  • Switch the back-office language using the globe icon in the menu
  • Go to the relevant tool section (for example Tools > Messages and Alerts)
  • Open the content you want to translate (e.g. Welcome Message)
  • Rewrite or adapt the content in the selected language
  • Save your changes

Once saved, the content will be shown to customers when the store is viewed in that language.

Example

If you add a Welcome Message in English and want to show it in Spanish:

  • Switch the back-office language to Spanish
  • Go to Tools > Messages and Alerts
  • Edit the Welcome Message
  • Rewrite it in Spanish and save

From that moment, customers browsing the store in Spanish will see the Spanish version of the message.
