Overview
The AI Image Generator & Editor lets you enable AI-powered tools for your customers to generate and edit images, logos, and graphics.
How it works
You can activate it from:
Customization Experience > AI Creative Tools > AI Image Generator & Editor
With this tool, your customers can use AI to:
Generate images, logos, and graphics
Edit or transform existing images
When activating the tool, you can choose to enable both Generator and Editor, or just one of them.
Generator
The Generator has two options because it uses different AI agents:
Images: for general AI-generated images
Graphics/Logos: uses a dedicated AI agent optimized for logos and graphics, delivering higher quality results. This option consumes more credits.
After enabling the Generator, your customers will see a “Generate with AI” button in the Uploads panel.
Please note
If a product uses a Printing Method where the Upload tool is disabled, the AI Image Generation tool will also be disabled, since both rely on the same upload pipeline.
Additionally, even if the Upload tool is enabled, the AI Image Generation tool will not work if the PNG format is disabled as an accepted file type in the Printing Method, because all images generated by the AI tool are produced in PNG format.
Editor
The Editor lets your customers modify images with AI. When enabled, a “Edit with AI” button appears in the image management panel.
For both Generator and Editor:
You can choose how many images to generate per prompt (1 to 4).
Pre-set styles are available to speed up image creation and provide consistent results.
UI Placement
Choose where the tool appears in the Customizer UI:
- Upload Image: Displays the tool in the list of upload options.
- Separate Tool in the Side Toolbar: Adds a dedicated button to the left sidebar on desktop and the Add menu on mobile.
- Images: Adds a dedicated button to the Images & Clipart Gallery, allowing customers to generate AI images alongside browsing the existing gallery.
These flexible placement options help you integrate AI image generation into the workflow that best fits your customers' experience.
Usage Controls
Usage Controls allows you configure settings to regulate how users access and interact with the tool, helping you prevent abuse and misuse.
You can choose whether the tool is visible only to logged-in users or to both logged-in users and guest visitors. You can also limit the number of requests available to each user, either per session or within a specific time period (e.g., allow a maximum of 10 requests in 15 minutes), allowing you to ensure fair usage and control costs.
They apply globally to the tool, not per rule, and appear on the tool main page once at least one rule is active.
To do this, go to Pricing Rules > Advanced Pricing, create a new rule, select "Price by Elements" as the Property, choose "Only images generated by AI Image Generator & Editor" as the Elements, and then set the desired price increase in the Conditions.
When a customer adds an AI-generated image to a product with this rule applied, the product price will automatically increase by the specified amount.

Pricing
This tool uses a credit-based system managed through the AI Creative Tools Addon (Your Account > Addons > AI Creative Tools). Credits are consumed every time an output is generated or edited.

| AI Design Generator | Generated design (personalization) | Variable | Credit cost depends on the user’s interaction with the AI and the complexity/duration of the session. On average, a complete design consumes between 2 and 5 credits. |
⚠️ All generated outputs consume credits, even if the customer selects only one of them or aborts the generation process.
For example, if you configure the AI Image Generator & Editor to produce 4 outputs per prompt, generating those 4 images will consume 4 credits, even if the user ultimately selects only one. Similarly, if a user launches a product staging generation and aborts it before seeing the result, 1 credit is still consumed.
When you activate the tool, an initial 20-credit pack is provided for free. Auto-refill is enabled by default: when your credits run out, the first paid pack available is automatically purchased, ensuring uninterrupted service.

⚠️ Note for Shopify users:
If your store runs on Shopify:
When activating the tool, the initial credit pack is provided for free, so no approval of charges is required. For any subsequent paid credit packs, you will be redirected to Approve Charge page in Shopify to confirm the purchase. Failing to confirm the approval will prevent the paid pack from being purchased, and the tool won't be available in your Customizer.
Auto-refill is not supported. When your available credits reach 20%, you will receive an email notification. You can manually purchase additional credit packs from: Your Account > Addons > AI Image Generator & Editor
