Zakeke has introduced a new default UI for the 3D Product Configurator - a more modern interface that improves how customers navigate groups, attributes, and options, select preset configurations, and interact with the AI assistant. Most importantly, it brings the full power of Zakeke's Customizer text & image tools to the configurator, so designs can be edited and moved on both 2D and 3D for a true 360° personalization experience.
ℹ️ Good to know: The new UI is applied as the default template for every newly created configurator.

1. Availability and enabling the new UI
- New customers - the new UI is active by default. There is no option to switch to the previous version.
- Existing customers - switching to the new UI is optional. Go to Platform Settings > User Interface Settings and use the Switch Configurator UI toggle (Enable new UI) to try it. You can switch back to the previous version at any time.
2. The interface at a glance
The configurator is organized into three areas:
- The 3D scene (left/center) - a live, interactive 3D preview of the product.
- The configuration panel (right) - presets, groups, attributes and options, the AI assistant, and the Text & Images editor.
- The footer (bottom) - product actions, saving, product information, and Add to cart.
You can change this disposition at any time by customizing the look and feel (UI Editor)
3. The 3D scene and controls
At the top of the 3D scene you'll find the viewing controls:
- Rotate the product and move between views (up/down and previous/next).
- Zoom in / out.
- Undo / redo your changes.
- Reset the configuration to its default state.
- Camera views - jump to predefined angles of the product [read more].
- Fullscreen - expand the configurator for a more immersive experience.
If enabled for the product, AR and VTO (Virtual Try-On) buttons appear in the bottom-left corner, letting customers view the product in augmented reality or try it on.
4. Configuring the product
Customers build their product from the panel on the right:
- Groups → Attributes → Options - navigation is organized so customers can move clearly from a group to its attributes and available options.
- Preset configurations - predefined combinations shown at the top that apply a complete look in a single click [read more].
- Compose your product with AI
- Adding text and images
5. Designing with AI
The new UI integrates Zakeke's AI tools directly into the configurator:
- Compose your product with AI - describe what you want (by text or voice) and let the AI assistant generate or adjust the configuration [read more].
- AI Lifestyle Scenes and AI Try-on - place the product in realistic scenes or try it on virtually.
For details on each AI feature, see the dedicated guides.
6. Adding text and images
The configurator now includes the full power of Zakeke's Customizer tools for adding text and images. Open Text & Images to start personalizing.
- Edit designs in 2D on the central canvas - per side (e.g. Front, Left, Right, Top) - and see them applied live on the 3D model.
- Designs can be moved and adjusted on both 2D and 3D, for a complete 360° personalization experience.
- Add Text Art and plain text with control over style, font, color, angle, curve, and top/bottom warp, and add images. Use Add more to combine multiple elements.
⚠️ Important: The text and image tools available to customers, how they behave, and how print-ready files are generated are governed by your Printing Methods. Printing Methods must be defined for the configurator as well to be applied correctly.
7. The footer
The footer provides quick access to any actions and product-level information that may have been triggered:
- Summary - review all the selected options at a glance before adding to cart [read more].
- Preview - preview the customized product [read more].
- Save and Share - when enabled, customers can save their configuration to resume it later or share it with anyone [read more].
- Product information (next to Add to cart) - price (with currency symbol), product name, quantity, and any custom text set below the price.
- Get a quote - allow your customers to send you requests for quotations instead of buying the product directly [read more].
- Add to cart - add the configured product to the cart.
8. Customizing the look and feel (UI Editor)
Just like for the Visual Product Customizer, the UI Editor lets you customize the visual theme and behavior of the 3D Product Configurator - adjusting UI-specific settings, defining colors and fonts, and tailoring tool visibility and behavior to match your brand and user-experience goals.
- Global theme - apply one theme to all products.
- Product-specific themes - create themes that override the global one for specific products.
From the editor's Configurator tab, you can control, among others:
- Settings - various functional and visual settings to fine-tune the behavior and layout of the configurator.
- Theme - change theme colors and fonts.
