One of the most useful feature of our 3D configurator is the ability for the user to edit text and images on the 3D product. Imagine a name on a ring or a signature on the shoe: your client will be able to edit text content, font, style, color or upload an image or choose a clipart from a gallery.
This guide assumes that you have already configured a whole product by following the previous guides.
Adding customizable areas
The first thing to do to make the product customizable with text and images is to add a "Customizable Area".
A customizable area is attached to a mesh/object of your scene and will use it's UV mapping to draw the text and images on top of the object.
To create a customizable area:
- Enter in the "Composer" editor page (where you add attributes and options for your product).
- Click on "Customizable Areas" on the left menu.
- Click the "Add" button.
In the dialog that is shown, type the name of the customizable area, select the mesh/object on which you would like to show the customization, type the output size dimensions and, if necessary, another UV channel map (if you don't want to use the default one). Type OK to save the area.
Add a template
Actually the user will not be able to create a new text or image on the product, you must add some placeholders that the user will be able to edit (e.g: a text with "Your text here").
After you have added the customizable area, the "Templates" left menu option will be available. When you click it a new empty template will be created as "Default template".
What you have to do here is to add text and images for each customizable area you have added, for each template.
To add a text, click the "T" icon on the right menu, and type a text. Move it where you want and play with it's settings.
To add an image, add it first in the images gallery, then click the Image icon on the right menu and select it from the gallery.
Remember to type the item name so the user will know what he is changing.
The result must look like similiar to this:
After selecting a text or image in the editor, if you click on the lock icon you can change some restrictions about the item, like move, rotate, resize, change font, color, etc.
Test the product
Save the product and test it with the Shopping Preview.
Get the output
When the user will buy your configured product you can download the ZIP package with the output images in the orders page of Zakeke or in you store backoffice.
The zip will contain the DXF, PNG, PDF and SVG file with a summary PDF with some informations.
